  • IBS-U: Irritable Bowel Syndrome “Unsubtyped” – which is characterized by having a hard stool less than 25% of the time AND a hard stool less than 25% of the time.
  • It is also very possible for people to have their classifications switch from time to time, depending on the severity of the digestive disorder as well as the food eaten.

They may also perform a blood test to search for Celiac Disease, a stool culture can be done to test for an infection, and a colonscopy can be performed to check for signs of cancer (most common for patients over the age of 50)
